Stunning view of the Whirlpool Galaxy!
We are thrilled to present this stunning photograph of the Messier 51 galaxy captured by Otso Mäkinen from his personal observatory, situated in Southern Finland. Mäkinen dedicated several nights in April to capturing this image, making the most of the dwindling astronomical darkness.
Speaking about his achievement, Mäkinen said, "I am really happy with how the image turned out and how all the equipment worked flawlessly after months of constructing the observatory and preparing the gear. While flats were manually taken during the telescope installation, I was able to operate everything remotely from my home, which is located two hours away. Additionally, this was my first time using N.I.N.A. for controlling the equipment and capturing the image."
